Council of Imams

The Muslim Center is spiritually led by a Council of Imams consisting of five Imams. These Imams, under the direction of the Resident Imam, are charged with the spiritual and religious leadership of the Mosque. They are responsible for Jumah Khutbah´s, Taleem services, Dawah outreach, Islamic and Arabic classes, visiting the sick in hospitals, nursing homes/private homes, incarcerated Muslims and other duties as needed.

	Resident Imam, Derrick Ali, has been Resident Imam of the Muslim Center for over 15 years. He was educated at Wayne State University in Islamic Studies and Arabic.

	Imam Abdullah El-Amin
	Assistant Imam
	beyelamin@muslimcentermcc.org
	Abdullah El-Amin is one of the founding members of the Muslim Center and has served in various capacities since then, including Chairman.

	Imam Momodou Ceesay

	Imam Momodou Ceesay is a West African Gambian and is the spiritual leader of the Gambian community, who are also members of the Muslim Center. Imam Ceesay comes from a long line of Islamic scholars in Gambia which is very helpful in the spiritual education of the mosque.

	Imam Ali Abdulmateen

	Imam Ali Abdulmateen is the youngest of the council. He studied in Syria for several years in an intensive immersion program sponsored by the Grand Mufti of Syria. He gained invaluable knowledge from his studies and gives freely of that knowledge to the community.
